On December 1st, a past employee of Small Press Distribution, our distributor, published an article on Medium alleging financial abuse, gaslighting, hostility, exploitation, and retaliation from SPD’s leadership.
We take these charges very seriously. We are currently in conversation with SPD. We are seeking assurances and clarity that their process in addressing the claims of the mentioned article will be equitable and just. We understand that, as stakeholders in the organization, we are in a position to insist on their accountability, which we plan to do as needed. That said, we believe that SPD is capable of and should hold its leadership accountable regardless of our role.
As we move forward in this process, we will continue to be as transparent as possible. We are also currently working to own and repair our own internal structures that have caused harm, and we commit ourselves to navigating this process with accountability and transparency.
