WritersCorps, a project of the San Francisco Arts Commission and the San Francisco Public Library, was recognized with the prestigious National Arts & Humanities Youth Program Award by First Lady Michelle Obama at a White House ceremony on Wednesday, October 20. Aunt Lute has published two anthologies of writing by young WritersCorps poets: Solid Ground, a gathering of San Francisco youth perspectives 100 years after SF’s Great Earthquake of 1906, and City of One: Young Writers Speak to the World, a collection of 150 young inner-city poets’ voices.
