Dan Vera’s a writer, editor, and literary historian. The author of two poetry collections: Speaking Wiri Wiri, inaugural winner of the Letras Latinas/Red Hen Poetry Prize, and The Space Between Our Danger and Delight, his work has appeared in various publications and university curricula. He’s been awarded residency fellowships at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Soul Mountain Retreat, and Ragdale Foundation. Latino Stories recognized him as a Top Ten “New” Latino Author to Watch (and Read) calling him “a talented, sophisticated poet who is a master at playing with words.” His watercolors have been featured in literary journals and book covers. Co-curator of the literary history site DC Writers’ Homes, he publishes other authors through Poetry Mutual Press and Souvenir Spoon Books and chairs the Split This Rock Poetry board. He lives in Washington, DC with his husband Peter and their dog Blossom Dearie.
