Choctalking on Other Realities Featured in This Land
An excerpt of “Choctalking on Other Realities,” an essay in LeAnne Howe’s newest book, Choctalking on Other Realities, has been featured in This Land, a semi-monthly newspaper based in Tusla, OK. “Choctalking on Other Realities” sheds light on Howe’s experience working in an Oklahoma airport cafe in the 70’s during the height of the Vietnam war, and her experiences as a journalist in Israel/Palestine during the early 1990s.
This Land Press works to “chronicle life in Oklahoma through courageous, compelling stories-and to tell those stories in the most suitable medium.” Their pro-community approach to journalism intends to reinvent how the news viewer understands media. While still relatively new, This Land has garnered acclaim and attention from New Yorker Magazine, NBC’s Today Show, TIME, Al Jazeera and Harper’s Magazine among other media outlets.
