ire’ne lara silva’s upcoming February events
ire’ne lara silva, the author of flesh to bone, a stunning collection of fictional short stories and one of Aunt Lute’s newest titles, will be involved in a couple of exciting events during the month of February. First, silva will be the Featured Writer at the Austin Baha’i Center Saturday February 1. Check the Center’s website for more information.
Later in the month, silva will attend the annual NACCS Tejas Foco Conference February 20-22. This year’s conference, “Chicana/o Studies in Tejas: Transforming our Communities,” is for the purpose of providing “spaces where teachers, students, researchers, creative writers, artists, activists, and grassroots leaders can come together to produce and promote ideas and knowledge about how Chicana/o Studies can continue to build stronger foundations within the Culture of Higher Education.” silva will be a panelist on “Feminist Wars on Bitch, Puta, and Cunt: Debunking the Derogatory terms in Literary and Social Contexts.” Go to NACCS Tejas Foco Conference’s website for a full list of events, and stay tuned to Aunt Lute’s website for more information on silva’s future events.
