LeAnne Howe wins Lifetime Achievement Award and Ford Fellowship

LeAnne Howe—author of Miko Kings, Shell Shaker, and the upcoming Choctalking on Other Realities—has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Native Writers Circle of the Americas. Howe was presented the award during the annual Returning the Gift and Indian Summer Festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The awards are voted upon by Native American writers, making it one of the few literary awards presented to Native Americans by Native Americans.

She was also the recipient of the 2012 USA Ford Fellowship in the Literature category. Each year, United States Artists honors 50 of America’s finest artists with individual fellowship awards of $50,000 each. We congratulate Howe on these amazing accolades!
