Ending “gay conversion therapy”: a Huffington Post blog article by community partner Chana Wilson
June 27, 2012 •
This week on Huffington Post’s Gay Voices, Chana Wilson, queer author and participant in Aunt Lute’s A Simple Revolution community events, writes about her experiences with “gay conversion therapy,” sharing piercing details of both her and her mother’s long journeys battling violent homophobia and coming to accept their sexualities. Wilson writes in light of current California bill SB 1172, which would ban any form of “conversion” therapy for LGBT teens. As California legislature works to ensure the safety of LBGT youth in schools and mental health facilities, Wilson’s piece highlights the harsh reality queer youth and adults face when their identities are challenged or endangered.
