Aunt Lute launches first-ever Kickstarter campaign – Help us keep Borderlands in print!
May 30, 2012
Aunt Lute Books is excited to announce the launch of our Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing of the 25th anniversary Fourth Edition of Gloria Anzaldúa’s groundbreaking Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza. Featuring new cover art and an introduction by Norma E. Cantú and Aída Hurtado, these important updates will bring her vital text into a new light. With attacks on Ethnic and Women’s Studies in schools and universities across the country, ensuring the continued printing and distribution of this inspiring and contested text is fundamental.
Aunt Lute is reaching out to our community of supporters to raise $10,000 through Kickstarter to help us ensure this mission suceeds. If you’re unfamiliar, Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing fundraising platform — which means if we don’t reach 100% of our goal, we recieve none of the funds we’ve gathered. Kickstarter also features customized rewards for various contribution levels, and we’ve taken this opportunity to offer exciting incentives such as Borderlands swag, book sets, and donations of Borderlands on your behalf to libraries or schools. Most successful campaigns get the bulk of their funding at the $5 – $10 level, making this a great way to contribute even if funds are tight.
Since its first publication, Borderlands/La Frontera has educated and inspired countless artists, students, and academics. The trajectory and impact of this book cannot be measured in its entirety. Your contribution to our publishing of the fourth edition means the potential to spark powerful projects, movements, and personal transformations far beyond its physical printing.
