Next month, Aunt Lute author Nancy Agabian and Shushan Avagyan will present their work from Queered: What’s to be Done with XCentric Art, a collaborative, bilingual book of writing, correspondence and art. The presentation, which also features a video by Arpi Adamyan, will be in New York City on March 14th, 7pm, at Word Up Community Bookstore (4157 Broadway at 176th Street; Washington Heights, NYC 10033; Subway: A Train to 175 St. or 1 Train to 181 St). You can find more information on the Facebook event page.
Queered is a recently published book by Queering Yerevan, a collective of queer women artists and writers from Armenia and its diaspora. You can learn more in Ianyan Mag’s review of the book, such as how the group hopes to document the stories of queer Armenian women in Queered, and to spark a dialogue about the hetero-normative paradigm.
Nancy Agabian previously published Me as her again: True Stories of an Armenian Daughter with Aunt Lute Books.
