On Thursday, April 26, 2012, Aunt Lute Books will be hosting “Struggle, Then and Now: Intergenerational Voices on the Bay Area Lesbian Movement,” at La Peña Cultural Center (3105 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley). The event starts at 6:30PM and will feature readings and a roundtable with Judy Grahn, Dulce Garcia, Lenn Keller, Joy Lam, and Animal Prufrock, with a special performance by Anne Bluethenthal & Dancers. An exhibit by photographer Cathy Cade will also be on display. The event is supported by a grant from the Horizons Foundation.
Sign up for our newsletter on A Simple Revolution’s homepage (the teal box on the right) to receive updates about this latest event. While our fall 2011 community event explored the formation of the Bay Area lesbian community in the 1960s and 1970s, “Struggle, Then and Now” will highlight the continuing impact that the legacy of this movement has had on lesbian/bisexual women and their allies in the Bay Area today.
We invite people of all ages and backgrounds to send in a submission for an opportunity to read onstage with Judy Grahn and participate in a roundtable discussion of intergenerational voices on the Bay Area lesbian movement. We also invite you to contribute to the discussion on our Community Forum.
So many stories from the Bay Area lesbian/bisexual community remain to be told. We hope you’ll share your stories to honor the importance of this vibrant community’s past, present, and future. A Simple Revolution begins simply, with your voices.
